Message from the President - Mrs. Suwipa Wanasathop
It is a great honor to have been elected to be the first president of the Asia Oceania Regional Software Park Alliance for 2008-2009. I joined this project with great enthusiasm and optimism about its future.
This idea started during the first Asia Oceania Regional Software Park Forum 2007 in Thailand: create a community among countries in the Asia and Oceania region to place its software industry on the world stage. In 2008, during the second forum held in Xiamen, the Alliance has officialy been established, and the first president elected.
Today, the Alliance is proud to gather nine countries and sixteen IT parks and organizations, working actively together to increase their "visibility".
Our strategy for this first year is to enhance bilateral and multilateral co-operation to create value for each country's software presence through "Share Infra" and "Share Info" approaches.
Under the "Share Infra" plan, the alliance will focus on sharing both physical infrastructure and software development with one another. We plan for each member to act as a "soft-landing zone" to serve alliance members. When they begin to penetrate each local market, this facility will become channels to facilitate software companies in the region to expand their businesses. This will save costs and synergize strong partnerships that will open up new market opportunities.
In the meantime, the members will also share activities for the development of skills. Training session held in one country, for instance, will be open for other country members to join, while business expertise will be transferred through various types of collaborative activities. To improve competitiveness in the region, the "Share info" would be another mechanism to allow all alliance members to access an overview and market intelligence of each country.
I strongly believe this Alliance will be able to strengthen and facilitate new opportunities for our regional market in a one-year term.
On behalf of all the executives of the Alliance, I would like to thank all the members for their commitment and their contribution to the Alliance, and I look forward to welcoming further partnerships with more countries.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Suwipa Wanasathop
President of the Asia Oceania Regional Software Park Alliance.
